Dale Earnhardt Jr. possesses one of the most familiar names and faces in the world of stock-car racing. Much of his fame stems from his family name: he is the son of the late Dale Earnhardt, one of NASCAR's most beloved stars. Since his father's death from a crash during the 2001 Daytona 500, Earnhardt has had to make his own way: as a driver, as a grieving son, and as a celebrity. He has won several major races in NASCAR's premier racing series, including the Daytona 500 in February of 2004. Earnhardt is one of NASCAR's most popular drivers. He has a devoted following among race fans, many of whom started out as fans of his father.
